Riverside walk open

PUPILS from St Michael’s Primary School in Dalston helped open a new riverside walk in Dalston called The Redspear Circuit.

Nine-year-old Patrick Armstrong designed the squirrel logo for the circuit map, which has been added to one of the path marker posts.

The circuit covers 1.24km starting and ending at St Michael’s School.

The route follows the River Caldew as far as the Nestléfactory before heading inland.

The footpath was renovated by the Redspearlands Footpath Group and Cumbria County Council’s Countryside Access Team.

Patrick, who is in Year 4, joined Duncan Graham, chairman of local access forum for Cumbria, in cutting a ribbon to mark the opening of the footpath.
